  Richard Walls
b.i.d.  p.i.d.i.m.  i.d.c.

Richard is the founder of ADI Group. After graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1975 with Honours, he decided to start up one of the first independent Professional Interior Design firms in Winnipeg at the time. While most Architectural firms were concentrating on corporate office design, Richard went another route, and chose Hospitality design. Quickly emerging as a leader in this field and the one everyone went to when they wanted a nightclub or restaurant designed, Richard and ADI Group were responsible for many of Winnipeg’s most successful bars and nightclubs in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

After taking a year off to sail his boat around the Caribbean, Richard is now known as “The Godfather of Main Street” for his undying focus on community development work in downtown Winnipeg working towards the re-birth and redevelopment of Main Street. He has personally purchased a number of properties with the hopes of jump-starting the neighbourhood, creating artist studio spaces, and affordable housing for the locals. His similar vision in the early 1980’s in Winnipeg’s Exchange District has turned a once questionable area into a trendy destination for workers and visitors.

His illustrious career has provided Richard with the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, with award winning results. In 1984, he was awarded the prestigious Design Canada National Award of Excellence for Chimes Restaurant, and most recently he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Heritage Winnipeg, for his dedication and commitment to the Exchange District. His love of sailing takes him away from us every winter, but always returns in the spring to help keep the ADI ship afloat.

Stephen Lamoureux
b.i.d.  p.i.d.i.m.  i.d.c.  n.c.i.d.q.  #017905

A graduate of the University of Manitoba in 1994, Stephen started his design career on the Wet Coast of Canada in Victoria. After three years he moved to Calgary and was part of the Alberta growth in the late nineties. Bucking the trends, Stephen and his family (now numbering 4) completed the circle and returned to Winnipeg. Reason number one for the move being family and number two the weather (yes that does say weather). A Winnipegger by birth and by choice the decision to move back to Manitoba has been an easy one and it is exciting to see the changes that are affecting the City of Winnipeg in a positive way.

Stephen has worked extensively in all aspects of the design industry over the past 13 years. Portfolio experience includes Hotel and Resorts, Restaurant and Lounges, Corporate Office, Specialty Retail and Residential projects. Stephen completed the requirements for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exams in 2002 obtaining his professional designation. Currently he is the Managing Partner of ADI group and is directly responsible for Design Management and Personnel.

Outside of the office Stephen can usually be found spending time with family and friends. A father of two, there won’t be a dance studio, soccer field or hockey rink unknown to them in the coming years. Free moments are spent renovating his residence or trying to reclaim past athletic glory on the football field or basketball court.
